Scenario:

Your team has been hired to develop or select an appropriate software package for a mid-sized regional hospital (Community Health) to use for the home health care portion of their organization. The hospital is located in the Mid-Western portion of the United States close to a large metropolitan area. Patients include residents in the city and suburban areas near the hospital.

The home health services of Community are administered in the patients’ homes as opposed to at a clinic or in the hospital. It allows patients to self-administer routine tests such as blood pressure, heart-rate, glucose levels etc. using monitors in their homes. The results of these tests are then automatically transmitted to the hospital or nearest home health facility. These are processed and monitored by the hospital staff. Another feature, called LifeAid, allows a patient to press a button on a necklace or bracelet which transmits a signal indicating the need for immediate assistance.

Clinical staff visits community home health patients regularly to monitor patient progress and ensure the technology is working properly.

Your team has been hired to investigate appropriate software to help coordinate the home health care portion of the business.
