Homework Assignment: Share one interesting statistic about your neighbourhood

Share one interesting statistic about your neighbourhood

by Skelton, Chad -

As described in the lecture videos, use Census Profiles to look up your Census Tract by your postal code.

Once you bring up figures for your Census Tract, you can click on Rates and then Submit at the top.

Assuming you live in Metro Vancouver, it will show the figures for your neighbourhood beside those for the Vancouver CMA. Look for an interesting statistic where your neighbourhood is notably different than the Vancouver region as a whole, as well as a description of where you live. For example:

"In the neighbourhood around Kwantlen's Surrey campus (Census Tract 9330185.22), 89.9% of the population are of South Asian visible minority status, compared to just 12.0% for the Vancouver CMA."

If you don't live in Metro Vancouver, find the address for a notable landmark or tourist attraction, find its postal code, and use that instead.
