In this discussion, you will explore the role of performance appraisals. In addition, you will identify the impact that the performance appraisal process can have on employee morale and engagement. Finally, you will explain how trust, emotional intelligence, and cultural competence can impact the appraisal process.

 

Prior to attempting this discussion forum,

·         Read Chapter 3 in Leadership for Today and the Future.

·         Consider your own experiences with performance appraisals as the recipient and if you have been the appraiser.

·         Find at least one resource to support your statements in this discussion. You may want to refer to the Scholarly, Peer-Reviewed, and Other Credible Sources (Links to an external site.) table from the UAGC Writing Center to identify appropriate academic resources.

 

In your initial discussion forum post,

·         Discuss the importance of performance appraisals.

·         Identify two effective strategies for appraising overall performance.

·         Discuss two common problems when conducting performance appraisals.

·         Explain how you as a leader would reduce bias when appraising performance.

·         Reminder: Cite at least one resource that supports your statements. Refer to the Scholarly, Peer-Reviewed, and Other Credible Sources (Links to an external site.) table for appropriate academic sources.

 

Guided Response: Reply to at least two of your peers by 11:59 p.m. on Day 7 of the week. Your peer responses should be a minimum of 100 words each. In your replies to colleagues consider the following:
