Week 1 - Discussion

Your initial discussion thread is due on Day 3 (Thursday) and you have until Day 7 (Monday) to respond to your classmates. Your grade will reflect both the quality of your initial post and the depth of your responses. Refer to the Discussion Forum Grading Rubric under the Settings icon above for guidance on how your discussion will be evaluated.

Project Management and Project Process Groups Reflection [WLOs: 1, 2] [CLOs: 1, 3]

Prior to beginning work on this discussion, please read the assigned page ranges in Chapters 1, 2, and 3 in your textbook and the Weekly Lecture for this week.

·         Explain what a project is and how projects differ from operations.

·         Describe the five project management process groups, and name at least one task that is done within each process group.

Your initial response should contain at least 200 words and be supported by at least one additional Scholarly, Peer-Reviewed, and Other Credible Sources  (Links to an external site.)(other than the textbook or required reading). Your post should add new information to the discussions. Posting early in the course week and adding outside sources, examples, and expanding on information are good ways to do this.

Guided Response: Review several of your classmates’ posts, respond to at least two of your peers, and answer any questions the instructor has for you. Students are expected to be active throughout the course week and required replies should be done early during the week to promote more meaningful and interactive discourse in this discussion. Identify how your peers’ explanations differ from your understanding, and offer at least one example, explanation, or experience to support your comments or position that your peers may not have considered. Your replies to your classmates and your instructor should be at least 100 words. Continue to monitor the discussion forum until 5:00 p.m. on Day 7 and respond with robust dialogue to anyone who replies to your initial post.
