Discussion: Blockchain and Supply Chain Management

Blockchain and Supply Chain Management

As the digital supply chain has become more prevalent in industry, it heralded in a new era of transparent and near real-time transactions for simple to complex supply chains. Blockchain (distributed ledger technology) seamlessly integrates with supply chain infrastructure and is adding value to relationships beyond ease of ledgers and more accurate transaction details. To remain competitive, organizations need to remain current with strategies that will lead them to long-term success in tomorrow's changing market conditions.

WEEK 1 DISCUSSION POST

Using this week's readings to understand blockchain, venture out and find at least one other recent resource for the post. It is not necessary to explain blockchain since we have all done the research. For your post:

·         Provide guidance as to how blockchain can be integrated into the supply chain.

·         Discuss why it can be considered a value-added component of the chain.

·         Using the resource beyond this week's readings, provide a real-world example of a company employing blockchain in its supply chain and how it worked out for them. (The article should be less than two years old.)

This post should be 2 paragraphs in length (150-200 words). Since you are engaging in research, be sure to cite in the body of the post and add a reference list in APA format. NOTE: failure to use research with accompanying citations to support content will result in reduced scoring "Level 2-Developing" for Quality of Initial Posting, Critical Thinking, and Reference to Supporting Readings/Information Literacy on the grading rubric.

WEEK 1 INTERACTIVE RESPONSES TO CLASSMATES

1st Interactive Response:

·         Analyze one student's company example of blockchain and compare/contrast it to your post.

2nd Interactive Response:

·         Analyze another student's coverage of how blockchain can add value and compare/contrast it to your post.

Each reply should be one paragraph in length (or about 75 words) and must be substantive in nature. Do not simply say "I agree" or "That is great"; specify why and be detailed in your explanation. You may use research in your responses, but it is not required.

WEEK 2 DISCUSSION POST

Discussing blockchain is not complete without including drawbacks. Using this week's readings as a foundation, add at least one other recent resource as support. For your post focusing on the supply chain:

·         Discuss industries that most benefit from blockchain.

·         Provide information on at least two drawbacks or cons of using blockchain.

·         Using the resource beyond this week's readings, provide a real-world example of a company employing blockchain in its supply chain with sub-optimal results. (The article should be less than two years old. Challenge yourself to find a newer source since some of the issues faced three years ago have been addressed.)

WEEK 2 INTERACTIVE RESPONSES TO CLASSMATES

1st Interactive Response:

·         Analyze one student's company example of blockchain drawbacks and compare/contrast it to your post.

2nd Interactive Response:

·         Analyze another student's real-world blockchain example and compare/contrast it to your post.

Each reply should be one paragraph in length (or about 75 words) and must be substantive in nature. Do not simply say "I agree" or "That is great"; specify why and be detailed in your explanation. You may use research in your responses, but it is not required.

In your own words, respond to the discussion and comments of classmates.

Grades will be based on effectual, concise, and interactive feedback.  The excessive use of quotes or unoriginal content will directly impact performance since it suggests a lack of comprehension and indicates that a student may not have mastered the concepts.
