Unit 3 Assignment Instructions:

A Health Information System (HIS) is a system that captures, and manages personal, demographic, and health data on individual patients.

A major feature of a HIS includes data management that includes collection and retention with the ability to compile health data sets, from a single or group of patients to be used internally and reported or shared as desired.

For this assignment, construct a paper reviewing an Electronic Health System/Electronic Medical Records Integration that allows the healthcare setting to capture the needed personal and demographic data, the patient medical history and treatment, but allow for the integration and capturing of actual healthcare data.  Be sure to discuss the following:

·         How does it work?

·         Does it integrate with other systems, i.e. .lab, imaging, billing, etc.

·         Limitations?

·         Is it suitable for telehealth?

·         Biggest barriers to healthcare integration?

·         Do you think there is an ROI for implementation?

·         Discus how the use of simulation can impact the quality of healthcare?  Can it improve it?  Can it make it worse?  How?

Requirements:

·         A minimum of four (4) pages or 1000-1500 words excluding the title page and references is required.

·         Use APA format.

·         Times New Roman 12 pt font, double spaced with 1" margins.

·         Title and reference pages are required.

·         An abstract is not required.
