WRITING ASSIGNMENT 3 (W3):
EMPLOYEE POLICY MEMO

BRIEF

You are an account team leader at a mid-sized advertising firm. You have caught several members of your team using their office computers to check their fantasy football teams, using their personal social media accounts, playing games, and watching Game of Thrones, all on billable time—hours that your clients must pay for. You talked to three other team leaders who have had similar problems, and have reported the issues to the head of Human Resources. As a result, the Director of Human Resources has asked you to propose a new computer use policy for the whole company.

The teams are composed of artists, writers, and programmers, who all constantly say they need “free time” so they can “be creative”; computer-use restrictions will not go over well unless you can perfectly balance the tone of your communication, and the content of your policy, between restrictions and creative freedom. 

Keeping all of the above points in mind, write a one page memo proposing a new computer-use policy. Your actual proposal can be anything you want it to be, but be as specific as possible.

Submit a double-spaced copy of the memo. Print on one side of the page using one-inch margins and 12-point, Times New Roman font.
