Instructions:
Step 1: After watching the lecture, choose a task that
involves operating technology. Be sure to choose a different technology than
those used in other assignments. My lecture includes an example of making tea
using an electric kettle. Identify the primary goal / task you are trying to
achieve. You may choose your own task, but make sure you choose a task that
includes several steps so that you can properly complete the assignment. Some
example tasks are the (A) process of recording, watching, and deleting a
television show; (B) process of taking, reviewing, and printing photos; or (C)
process of searching, purchasing, and shipping an item from an online
vendor.
Step 2: Conduct a hierarchical task analysis after you
completed the task yourself. Your task analysis should have at least 3 levels.
Level 1 = primary goal. Level 2 - main tasks. Level 3 - sub tasks for each main
task. Try to be specific and detailed.
Step 3: Think about
how you rely upon technology to complete the task.
