We are bombarded with ads on television, radio, social media, and even within a health care facility/office.  But who is this marketing really targeting?

For this discussion, you are being asked to broadly think of the different parties and roles within the healthcare delivery system.  Then look at the current environment of marketing, not only services, but products, as well.  

Discuss who is really the “customer”  or "consumer" within healthcare arena, i.e. the different parties and roles in which they serve.

Does the customer differ with the type of healthcare service or product offered?

Does the expectations and demands of a customer change depending upon the healthcare service provider?

Has the marketing in healthcare reached the level of creating the dream to attain Utopia?

There is a complex relationship between hospitals and physicians/physician groups.

Discuss how the physician's practice has changed over the past 20 years and evaluate how these changes have affected the dynamic of the physician as a customer for what a hospital or specialty care provider (i.e. heart hospital) has to offer.

What does this mean for healthcare marketers?
