Resolution is a measure of the number of individual pixels a video contains both horizontally and vertically. Consistently going above -10db (towards 0db) doesn’t give you the “headspace” in post production to increase volume, as well as, staying around -12db ensures unforseen spikes in volume from talent or environmnet doesn't result in audio distortion. Staying around -12db is recommended as it gives you enough volume while allowing some "headspace" in post in case you need to raise volume.

Raw/Log is all the data from the camera. The Standard factory setting is a pre-selected rang of data; that saves time on editing and memory. The con to Standard is that it isn't as editable.
LOG is not all the data from the camera sensor, LOG is essentially a more sophisticated Standard Video file that has been tonally flattened and desaturated to make it have more dynamic range during post production, therefore it requires editing because out of camera it looks flat and lifeless.
