Review the module reading for additional tips for an informational interview. Informational interviewing is a form of networking - NOT an interview for employment. The interview can be over the phone. 

Who to Interview:

• Do NOT interview an SF State faculty member. Expand your network.

• Do NOT interview an immediate family member (e.g., Parents, sibling), but a distant family member that you do not see often is OK. Expand your network.

• Most students recruit a friend of the family or a relative of a friend.

• The interviewee can hold any job, but it is best to find someone who is using skills that interest you. For example, you may choose to interview a Day Care Worker even though you want to be Child Psychologist. Or, you may choose to interview a Business Manager even though you are interested in being a Human Resource Specialist.

• What are the job duties of the interviewee? 

• What degrees, skills, and experiences are needed to get the job?
