Week 3 Discussion - Tough Times in the Oil Business? - A 1

It can be a tough time to be in the oil business. This week we are going to analyze and discuss the business of ConocoPhilips. Below you will find the link to their recent financials. Please review these to get an understanding of their business and then present and give us the story behind some key ratio's you believe to be important. Remember you are presenting data to the rest of the members in the Investment Team so be sure to follow the discussion and do not repeat data or ratios that have already been presented. To make this a worthwhile exercise everyone needs to pick a different set of numbers or ratios and then do their analysis based on their ratios (just one ratio and comparing/analyzing results of that ratio for 2 to 3 years should be sufficient so there are ratios out there for everyone to calculate). What I am looking for in the postings is a reminder to the rest of us of the ratio you chose, how it is calculated, the result you calculated, how and why that number has changed over the past two years,  how it compares to their competitors and what that tells us about the company. Please do not calculate all the key ratios and just present them. Leave some room for your classmates but feel free to correct your classmates if they have made a calculation error. Collectively we should be able to decide whether or not this is a good company to invest in. Be sure to include the results from 2018 in your analysis.
