STAT 220 Week 6 Discussion

Weekly Experiment and Discussion - Part 1 - Due by Day 3
Please read and follow the directions very carefully ! (Thank You !)

FYI - This is similar to the experiment from Week # 4.

Please complete the following:
Step 1: Using Minitab, create 100 samples ( c1-c100) of size 20 ( i.e., 20 rows of data) from a Normal Distribution with a Mean = 100 and a Standard Deviation = 15 .
•	( Why Mean = 100, and Sigma = 15? It's the Mean and Standard Deviation of the Wechsler IQ Test which is one of the two "Gold Standard" IQ tests - the Stanford-Binet is the other )

Step 2: Perform a two-tail hypothesis test ( using the 1-Sample Z option) on columns c1-c50.
•	Enter a Standard Deviation of 15 and a Test Mean of 100

Step 3: Place a ' # ' after any p-value less than 0.05

Step 4: Perform a two-tail hypothesis test ( using the 1-Sample Z option) on columns c51-c100.
•	Enter a Standard Deviation of 15 and a Test Mean of 110

Step 5: Place a ' $ ' after any p-value greater than or equal to 0.05

Step 6: Save the Minitab Project ( not worksheet, but project) using W5-WED3-First_Initial_Last_Name
•	(e.g., Eric Stratton would save as W5-WED3-EStratton)

Step 7: Post your reply with attachment by Day #3.

Step 8: When submitting the assignment, you must enter in the body of your post:
•	The number of rows you had to mark with a ' #' in Step #3
•	The number of rows you had to mark with a ' $' in Step #5
•	( Please make sure to count each carefully, it is vital to our discussion of it)

Weekly Experiment and Discussion - Part 2 - Due by Day 7

First post due on or before Day 5, Follow up / Additional Post due on or before Day 7

From Steps 2 & 3 in Part 1:
A) How many occurrences of p-values less than 0.05 did you have?
B) What Type Error (I or II) do these represent?
C) You were testing the below hypothesis, What is your conclusion when the p-value was less than 0.05?
Ho: Mu = 100
Ha: Mu does not = 100
(Note: Mu = Population Mean)
D) How does your conclusion from Part C above match what you know about where the data came from?

From Steps 4 & 5 in Part 1:
A) How many occurrences of p-values greater than or equal to 0.05 did you have?
B) What Type Error (I or II) do these represent?
C) You were testing the below hypothesis, What is your conclusion when the p-value was greater than or equal to 0.05 ?
Ho: Mu = 110
Ha: Mu does not = 110
(Note: Mu = Population Mean)
D) How does your conclusion from Part C above match what you know about where the data came from?
