ECE 335 Week 2 - Discussion 2

Story Plot

Section 4.2 of the text discusses in detail the importance and the various types of plot we see in the stories we read. Successful stories are those that have an identifiable plot or sequence of events (Coats, 2013). Our understanding of the types of plot will help us to better identify the kinds of stories our future students gravitate towards. For this post, you will complete the chart “The Seven Basic Plots.” You will choose at least two children- books that fit into each plot category. A title may fit into more than one category, but you must choose at least two books for each plot type. Then, briefly discuss how knowing this information will help you choose literature for your classroom.

Guided Response: Review several of your classmates’ charts, and respond to at least two of your peers. Share at least one more book with your peer for two of the plot types. In addition, discuss at least one more way in which understanding the different plot types will allow them to choose appropriate literature for the children they are working with.

Carefully review the Discussion Forum Grading Rubric for the criteria that will be used to evaluate this Discussion Thread.
