Our classroom, families, and children are reflective of this statement. Early care and education programs have a crucial role in supporting all families and “by supporting the family, we support the child†(Wardle, 2013, p. 283). As an early childhood educator, in an effort to support families who are fighting poverty, I will work with parents on income job training and parenting skills by researching and informing parents of these resources, this will help alleviate their situation. Resources such as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) are two great resources for people struggling with poverty.
