There are four major parts to this first paper: 1. Begin with an introduction to government regulation. In one page or less, summarize the current state of the accounting industry and corporate America. Is there a need for additional regulation? Is there a need for less regulation? You will be going into further detail later, so at this point, keep your comments brief. 2. Summarize the purpose and regulatory extent of three major pieces of regulation: The Securities Acts of 1933 and 1934, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of 1977, and the Sarbanes Oxley Act. Provide background that gives a context for why each of these acts of regulation was enacted. 3. Detail three related frauds or scandals (one for each of the three acts of regulation that you summarized in part 2). Who was responsible for the fraud/scandal and why? Was the fraud/scandal the result of an inadequacy in the regulation? Why or why not? 4. Conclude with an analysis of the efficiency, or lack thereof, of the acts of regulation that you researched. In part 1, you summarized whether there was a need for more or less regulation. In your conclusion, reference your previous research to provide detail and support for your claims. Please use headings (formatted in APA style) to identify each required part of your paper. Your paper should be organized as follows: • Introduction • Securities Acts of 1933 and 1934 o Summary of regulation o Analysis of related fraud/scandal • The Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of 1977 o Summary of regulation o Analysis of related fraud/scandal • Sarbanes Oxley Act o Summary of regulation o Analysis of related fraud/scandal • Conclusion The body of the paper should be between 8-10 pages in length. Additionally, include a title page, outline, and reference list (these are not included in the 8-10 page length). The paper should be double-spaced with 1-inch margins. Font size should not exceed 12 point. For additional formatting requirements --
