HIS 225 MODULE 7 DISCUSSION

Very few times throughout history has social change occurred without civil unrest, force, strikes, and to capture the attention of the public. The success of any mission generally comes after a breakdown of an old regime or ideology affecting common people.
1. Name one instance in history where a breakdown in society happened for social change. Name a leader of that particular social change?
For example: Solidarity Leader, Adam Michnik, Martin Luther King Jr.
2. Which of the following leadership styles best fits your choice of a leader in conjunction with question no. 1? Briefly, tell why.
1. Charismatic

•	May seem to believe more in self than in the team
2. Innovative

•	Can see what is not working and brings new thinking and action into place
•	To break open entrenched, intractable issues
•	To create a work climate for others to apply innovative thinking to solve problems, develop new products and services
•	Risk taking is increased for all
•	Failures don't impede progress
•	Team gains job satisfaction and enjoyment
•	Atmosphere of respect for others' ideas is present
3. Command and Control

•	Is the sole decision maker
•	Others have little chance to debrief what was learned before next encounter with leader.
4. Pace Setter

•	Includes the whole team in decision making

6. Situational

•	Can be confusing if behavior changes unpredictably and too often
7. Transformational
•	Expects team to transform even when it's uncomfortable
•	Counts on everyone giving their best
•	Serves as a role model for all involved
•	To encourage the group to pursue innovative and creative ideas and actions
•	To motivate the group by strengthening team optimism, enthusiasm, and commitment
