•	The purpose of this assignment is to ensure that each student acquires and improves their analytical and critical thinking skills, technical skills, and written communication skills.  
•	It is expected that you will do extensive research using current, reliable sources.
•	Use facts and figures to support your ratings.
•	Do not string together a series of facts.  Analyze what you have found and use the terms in the book and notes to support your rating.    
•	Do not use too many quotes. It is better to use your own words and use an endnote.  
•	If you use other peoples’ words, you must use quotation marks and provide a proper reference!
•	You must always correctly attribute sources of any data or information.  
•	If you use someone- ideas you must use endnotes.  
•	If you use someone- words, you must use quotation marks and provide a reference. 
•	 If you commit plagiarism, you will receive a grade of F in the class! 
•	Use an APA or MLA format.
•	When citing websites URLs alone do not suffice. Provide a date, site name, title and author when available.
•	DO NOT USE WIKIPEDIA!!  It is not a reliable source of information.
Assignment 2-combined (4-29-11)
•	Analyze your group- industry using Porter- six forces. 
•	Have a section heading for each force.  Start with the high issues. 
•	Rate each force as high, medium, or low and explain why.  Make sure the rating is emphasized in the section heading.  
•	Use facts, figures, and reasoning to support your rating. Use the terms in the book and in the notes.
•	Start each section by identifying who or what you are talking about in each section. For example, in the bargaining power of the buyers’ section, start by explaining who the buyers are.  The reader needs to know what suppliers or supplies at the start of the section on the bargaining power of suppliers. Do this force each of the Porter- six forces.
•	Use the terms and concepts in the textbook and my notes. 
•	Be concise.  Get to the point!  However, make sure that your point is clearly stated and easily understood.
•	Do not be so brief that the reader does not understand your logic and what information you have to support your ratings.
•	Emphasize the evidence and build on it - eliminate unfounded speculation and opinion.
•	This is NOT a report on the company.  This is a report on the industry! I should not see your company name too often.
Format:
•	The first page should be a cover page with your name and the name of your company and industry.  Include the date and Assignment 2.
•	Your ID# should be at the very bottom of the cover page.  
•	You have a maximum of three double-spaced pages to evaluate your industry. The three pages do not include the cover page and the endnotes. If you exceed the page limit, your grade will be lowered.
•	Use page numbers.    
•	Use size 12 font, 1.5 or 2.0 spaces.
•	Use normal size margins (no less than 1 inch).
•	Use sentences and paragraphs.  MAKE PROPER USE OF PARAGRAPHS!! There should be paragraphs within each section.  
•	This is NOT an exhibit format.

•	Proof read your paper. Grammatical and spelling errors will lower your grade.
•	Include a copy of the evaluation sheet with your name, ID#, and the industry and name filled in. Staple the form to the back of your paper.
•	Staple your paper.
•	Give a hard copy (with your assignment 2 evaluation sheet with your name and ID# filled in) to Dr. Dahmus prior to the deadline.
•	Submit a copy to SafeAssign on Blackboard assignments before the due date and time.
