Answer the following question and write an essay of no more than 1500 words. The total mark of this question is 100.
Mr. A, a commentator and article writer in newspaper and magazine for films and television programs, intends to buy a HDTV (High Definition Television) for his business so as to watch blue ray movies and high definition TV channels in high definition quality.
He visits ‘T Ltd.’ which is one of the largest chain stores in Hong Kong for electrical appliances.
Mr. B, a sales manager of ‘T Ltd.’ recommends Mr. A to buy a television model with brand name ‘QQ’. He tells Mr. A that this model is compatible with all functions of HDTV including that of watching blue ray movies and high definition TV channels in high definition quality. Mr. B also tells Mr. A that this model is ‘the latest in modern technology’ and that ‘he will enjoy a flawless television screen that it brings”.

As Mr. A pays cash for the aforementioned television, he is given a 20 per cent discount. In making his purchase, Mr. A also has to sign a standard form contract with ‘T Ltd.’ in which Clause 3 states that ‘the purchaser is deemed to have examined the electrical appliance he/she purchased prior to this agreement and satisfied himself/herself of the condition of the product’.

When Mr. A tries to install the television he purchased from T Ltd., there he finds that it is not compatible with high definition quality. Also, static lines appear on screen when watching blue ray movies and high definition TV channels, making it useless for Mr. A- business purposes.

Mr. A demands a full refund from T Ltd. However, T Ltd. says that on the basis of Clause 3 in its standard contract and the fact that they do not manufacture the television Mr. A bought, they deny any liability to Mr. A.

Advise Mr. A. of his possible causes of action against T Ltd. and/or Mr. B.
