In examining how and why unions organized, some of the key questions that come to mind include why unions formed, what sort of work conditions led to union organizing, what motivates an employee to organize and join a union, and just what is the process and procedures for organizing unions.
During this week, students will have the opportunity to browse the National Labor Board- web site: http://www.nlrb.gov.  Additionally, we will learn about the conduct of the representation election campaign, as well as union decertification.
Finally, I look forward to our discussion forum interaction as we each explore the others’ rationale for joining a union today—that is, if you would join a union in today- technologically advanced, 21st century workplace environment.
