SFTY 330 Week 5 Discussion 2 | Assignment Help | Embry Riddle
Week 5 Discussion 2
5.3 - Discussion:
Turbines and Props
Answer the following questions in this
discussion forum, along with any additional questions your instructor may post.
Use deductive
and inductive logic when consider the following:
1. What is meant by the general investigative
expression, 'Turbines may have a memory'? (Note: the word “memory” in this case
does NOT refer to a human factors issue)
2. Explain why a modern turbine engine is easier
to analyze (from an accident investigation
perspective) than a reciprocating engine. What evidence is gained?
3. What is meant by 'critical flows' needed by a
turbine engine to operate properly?
4. Also, describe the term “feathering” as it
pertains to propeller function and why it’s important be aware of this during
an aviation safety investigation.
A substantial response shows thought and
critical thinking; a short, two or three sentence response is not acceptable.
Support your opinions with references. You may use course material, but be
specific. Personal experiences etc. may be used to enhance your
perspective of the questions but they must be valid and relative to the
subject matter. Your instructor will evaluate your posts using the discussion
rubric.
Read the posts of your
classmates, reply and evaluate at least one other student's posting.
