Assignment Instructions

This week you will model the steps of mitosis and meiosis and explain this process in a video recording.

Instructions:

1. Download and read the lab worksheet provided below under “Supporting Materials.”

2. Complete the following activities from the online lab manual (Biology Lab button in the left menu):

·         Lab 11 – Mitosis and Meiosis

o    Introduction (all sections under the “Mitosis and Meiosis” heading)

o    Assignments, Procedures, and Lab Drills

§  Complete and pass the Lab Drill

§  Perform Experiments 1 through 3

§  DO NOT perform Experiment 4

3. Create a short video (about 5 minutes). Your video must include the following elements:

·         Introduce yourself

·         Show that you do not have any additional resources available in your work area other than your illustrations and the structures list for lab assignment 6.

·         Demonstrate every term on the list using the pipe cleaners from Experiment 2 and 3.

o    After the introduction, the camera view must be close enough that I can clearly see your demonstration.

·         Answer the questions provided in the worksheet without assistance.

Submission Instructions: Upload your video to the assignment using the Kaltura icon in the Rich Text Editor (RTE) window.

Detailed instructions are available below under “Supporting Materials.” This is the preferred method so that your video plays in the classroom. After you insert the video into the RTE, you can “preview” your video prior to submitting your assignment.
