Week 4 Code of Ethics Short Essay

ASSIGNMENT OVERVIEW

In this assignment, you are asked to write a 1-2 page essay in which you identify your chosen/or desired profession and then search online for a code of ethics related to this profession (For example: a school counselor, a social worker, a human service worker). Through this assignment, you will begin to develop an awareness and understanding of the Code of Ethics for your chosen or desired profession.

ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS

·         Identify your chosen profession (For example: psychologist, educator, counselor, police or probation officer).

·         Go online to search for and find the Code of Ethics for your chosen profession.

·         Write a short essay (1-2 pages) explaining:

1.    Introduction: Why did you choose this profession? Introduce the code of ethics of your desired/chosen profession in the introduction paragraph. Be sure to include an in-text citation for the code of ethics (Click hereLinks to an external site. for an example of how you might format an in-text citation for a website)

2.    Body of Paper

o    Why it is important for professionals in the field you have chosen to be familiar with and understand the field’s code of ethics.

o    Identify what you think are the three most important requirements of the field’s code of ethics & explain why. (Be sure to cite the code of ethics through in-text citation whenever the code is discussed).

3.    Conclusion: Restate what was discussed throughout the paper and leave your reader with a closing thought.

4.    Keep in mind, the Code of Ethics and your textbook should be listed as references and formatted in correct APA.
