Los Festivales

Learners are expected:

• to answer personal questions using previously learned and new vocabulary and appropriate grammatical structures. 

• to describe and discuss the details celebrations of a Spanish speaking country.

Discussion Requirements:

Part 1:

• Discussion Guidelines: original post is due on THURSDAY by 11:59 PM EST and two or more replies to others are due on SUNDAY by 11:59 PM.

• Answer the following questions with complete sentences in Spanish (see example below)

o ¿Dónde trabajas? 

o ¿A qué hora terminas tu trabajo, típicamente? 

o ¿Cómo pasas tu tiempo libre?

o ¿A qué hora te levantas? 

o ¿A qué hora te acuestas? 

Part 2

• Write a minimum of 15 sentences in English

• Each person is going to research one unique celebration from a Spanish-speaking country (credit will not be given to repeated celebrations: check other posts before yours: post early)

• You may not choose Día de Los Muertos.

• Put the name of your celebration in the subject of your discussion. 

• Add images, sounds, or videos, etc.

• In your post include: 

o What is the celebration/festival? When did it originate? What is its purpose? 

o Who participates? Where does it take place?

o How is this festival celebrated? (What does it look and feel like to be there among the participants?)

o Why did this celebration get your attention and would you like to participate in it? Why?

o Think about a celebration or holiday you celebrate here in the US and compare and contrast how and why your celebration is similar and/or different from the celebration you are presenting.  

o Use presentational tools can include PowerPoint, Smore, Adobe Spark, Beautiful.Ai, or another of your choice. 

• Cite all sources used at the bottom of your post (see the important message below)

• Respond to two or more other individuals (replies should stimulate and encourage further discussion. You may ask questions to promote further discussion). 

• Reply with at least 5 complete sentences in English.

• ¿A qué hora terminas tu trabajo, típicamente? Termino mi trabajo a las cinco. 

• ¿Cómo pasas tu tiempo libre? Paso mi tiempo libre con mi familia. También me gusta hacer yoga. 

• ¿A qué hora te levantas? Me levanto a las seis y media. 

• ¿A qué hora te acuestas? Me acuesto a las nueve.
