Post Your Introduction [WLOs: 1, 2] [CLOs: 1, 2]

In this discussion, you will examine how you have been impacted by leaders, personally or professionally. You will identify various leadership characteristics. In addition, you will explore the importance of being an ethical or principled leader or lack thereof. Finally, you will explore how your experience as a leader or with other leaders impacts your leadership style.

Prior to attempting this discussion forum,

·         Read Chapter 1 in Leadership for Today and the Future.

·         Watch the Self-Serving Bias | Concepts Unwrapped (Links to an external site.)

·         Consider your own experiences as a leader or with a past or present leader.

·         Find at least one resource to support your statements in this discussion. You may want to refer to the Scholarly, Peer-Reviewed, and Other Credible Sources (Links to an external site.) table from the University of Arizona Global Campus Writing Center to identify appropriate academic resources.

In your initial discussion forum post,

·         Introduce a leader that has motivated or influenced you. Include a picture of your selected leader along with a brief bio. Your selected leader could be someone that you follow in the media, someone that you resonate with, or maybe someone you are connected to on LinkedIn. Focus on a leader that models the behavior that you want to cultivate in yourself.

·         Explain the characteristics your selected leader embodies that are ethical or principled.

·         Discuss what ethical principles guide the way you behave at work? Have your principles ever been tested? How did you react?

·         For this discussion your initial post should be a minimum of 250 words.

·         Reminder: Cite at least one resource that supports your statements. Refer to the Scholarly, Peer-Reviewed, and Other Credible Sources (Links to an external site.) table for appropriate academic sources.

Guided Response: Respond to three of your classmates’ posts with a minimum of 100 words each. Respond to your peers by 11:59 p.m. on Day 7 of the week. In your replies to colleagues consider the following:

·         Provide one to two additional insights or counterpoints, or share research to build on the discussion.

·         Discuss additional ways that leaders can avoid self-serving bias.

·         Identify how self-serving bias as a leader can impact an organization or the team.

·         Explore how an organization can protect itself from the negative side effects of self-serving bias of leaders.
