Instructions

1.   Review the rubric to make sure you understand the criteria for earning your grade.

2.   Read and the section 5.4, “Positioning and Repositioning Offerings” in the textbook Principles of Marketing.

3.   Read and review the following resources:

a.    Marketing: Segmentation - Targeting - Positioning

b.    What is Marketing Segmentation? Different Types Explained

c.    The Importance of Targeting in Marketing

d.   How to Identify Your Target Market

4.   Select and view two different commercials, one for which you are the target audience and one for which you are not the target audience.

5.   Navigate to the threaded discussion and respond to the following discussion prompts:

a.    Post the links for the two commercials that you selected.

b.    Using key concepts from the textbook and website resources linked to this workshop, explain how one of the commercials targets you.

c.    For the second commercial, describe the segments for target.

d.   Considering both commercials, identify any potential ethical considerations related to their target audiences.

6.   Your initial post is due by the end of the fourth day of the workshop.

7.   Read and respond to at least two of your classmates’ postings, as well as instructor follow-up questions directed to you, by the end of the workshop.

8.   Your postings should also:

a.    Be well developed by providing clear answers with evidence of critical thinking.

b.    Add greater depth to the discussion by introducing new ideas.

c.    Provide clarification to classmates’ questions and insight into the discussion.
