Instructions
1.
Review the rubric to make sure you understand the criteria for
earning your grade.
2.
Read the following:
a.
Chapters 21–22 in your textbook.
b.
Lillian Stevens' article, The Work of the National Woman’s
Christian Temperance Union.
3.
Navigate to the Discussion page and respond to the following
(type the questions [a, b, c] and answer each in a separate paragraph):
a.
What were the most important achievements of the Progressives –
discuss specific reform movements. How were the Roosevelt and Wilson
administrations different in their “progressivism”?
b.
Why were the Prohibitionists concerned about the
consumption of alcohol? In what ways did alcoholism negatively impact the
nation? What were the basic principles of the Prohibitionists and in what
other reform movements were they prominent?
c.
What role did Christians and the churches play in the various
Progressive reform movements? (refer to the article)
4.
Your response should be a minimum of 300 words
and you should write a paragraph for each question.
a.
Each paragraph, or the answer to each question, should be at
least 100 words.
b.
Do not quote from the text and you may only
use the text as a source in answering the discussion
questions.
5.
Your initial post is due by the end of the fourth day of the
workshop.
6.
Read and respond to at least two of your classmates’ postings,
as well as all follow-up instructor questions directed to you, by the end of
the workshop.
7.
Your postings should also:
a.
Be well developed by providing clear answers with evidence of
critical thinking.
b.
Add greater depth to the discussion by introducing new ideas.
c.
Provide clarification to classmates’ questions and provide
insight into the discussion.
d.
Be posted on two different days during the workshop.
