1.5 Assignment: Article Summary 

Instructions

1.   You can earn up to 25 points upon successful completion of the following instructions.

2.   Read Andrew Carnegie’s article, Wealth.

3.   After reading the article, provide one paragraph  (75 words minimum) summary of the article’s contents and answer the following questions (each one in a separate paragraph of at least 75 words and type the question first and then answer):

a.   How did Carnegie believe that the conflict between labor and capital could be solved? 

b.   What could the wealthy do to mitigate the social unrest during this turbulent period? 

c.   According to Carnegie, what were the benefits of capitalism over socialism? 

4.   Your essay should be a minimum of 300 words, in other words, at least 75 words for each of the four paragraphs.  You may only use the article as a source for your essay.  You should attach a title page to your submission, but you do NOT need a reference page.  Make sure you check your paper for grammatical mistakes before submitting it. 

5.   When you’ve completed your assignment, save a copy for yourself and submit a copy to your instructor using the Assignment submission page by the end of the workshop.
