Instructions
1.
Review the rubric to make sure you understand the criteria for
earning your grade.
2.
Read Chapters 16 and 18–19 in your textbook.
3.
Navigate to the Discussion page and respond to the following
(type the questions [a,b, c] and answer each in a separate paragraph):
a.
Explain the differences between the congressional (Radical
Republican) and presidential (Lincoln and Johnson) reconstruction plans.
b.
How did the Federal government’s attempt at reconstructing the
South embitter Southerners and exacerbate racial tension?
c.
How did the Federal government attempt to protect the rights of
the freedmen in the South?
4.
Your response should be a minimum of 300 words
and you should write a paragraph for each question.
a.
Each paragraph, or the answer to each question, should be at
least 100 words.
b.
Do not quote from the text and you may
only use the text as a source in answering the discussion questions.
c.
For a model for writing your post and responses, refer to
the Sample
Discussion Post and Response file.
5.
Your initial post is due by the end of the fourth day of the
workshop.
6.
Read and respond to at least two of your classmates’ postings,
as well as all follow-up instructor questions directed to you, by the end of
the workshop.
7.
Your postings should also:
a.
Be well developed by providing clear answers with evidence of
critical thinking.
b.
Add greater depth to the discussion by introducing new ideas.
c.
Provide clarification to classmates’ questions and provide
insight into the discussion.
d.
Be posted on two different days during the workshop.
