1.   Review the rubric to make sure you understand the criteria for earning your grade.

2.   Choose a major organization or company that is of interest to you from the following list:

a.   Major Auto Manufacturers: Ford or Toyota

b.   Major Integrated Oil and Gas: ExxonMobil or Shell

c.   Major Airlines: Southwest Airlines or JetBlue

d.   Air Delivery & Freight Services: Federal Express or UPS

e.   Beverages (Soft Drinks): Coca-Cola or PepsiCo

f.    Discount, Variety Stores: Walmart or Target

3.   Determine what information sources would be readily available in developing a profile of the business, its management, and its future direction.

a.   For sources of company information, see Business Resources--Off Campus Library Services, especially the Specific Research Guides for Business Research category.

b.   Another alternative for company information is to consult the Company Research Guide through OCLS at the following location:

                i.        Go to OCLS

              ii.        Scroll down and under OCLS Tools, click on More.

             iii.        Click on Business Resources

            iv.        Scroll down to the document entitled “Company Research Guide.”

4.   Installment One of your organization case study should include the following:

a.   Provide a brief profile of the organization, its origins, its leadership, nature of the total industry, and the organization’s current and projected position in that industry.

b.   Describe the most important political, economic, and social realities facing this company. What are the most predominant current and anticipated macro-environmental conditions within which the organization must operate?

5.   Your paper should show a high level of insightful and critical thinking.

6.   Your paper should have a title page, body, and reference page. The cover and reference page will not count toward any length requirement.

7.   Use proper spelling, grammar, APA formatting, and include citations from the reading and your research as appropriate. Your paper should include research from at least two reputable scholarly sources.

8.   Refer to OCLS APA Writing Styles Guides for APA questions. 

9.   When you have completed your assignment, save a copy for yourself and submit a copy to your instructor by the end of the workshop.
