Your initial discussion thread is due on Day 3 (Thursday) and you have until Day 7 (Monday) to respond to your classmates. Refer to the Discussion Forum Grading Rubric under the Settings icon above for guidance on how your discussion will be evaluated.

Effective Leadership [WLOs: 1, 2] [CLO: 1]

Prior to beginning work on this discussion, read Chapters 3, 4, and 5 from Introduction to Leadership: Concepts and Practice. Additionally, read the Week 2 - Weekly Lecture.

By the end of Week 2, you have covered many topics in leadership (Chapters 1-5). You have taken self-assessment surveys, started a journal on leadership, and have begun to understand some of your own strengths and weaknesses with regard to leadership. This DQ will allow you to choose a chief executive officer (CEO), chief operating officer (COO), or other business leaders and learn about them, their skills, traits, strengths, and weaknesses as well.  (You may use this leader in future assignments.)

Review the List of 50 Leaders Download List of 50 Leadersdocument. Select one of these leaders (deceased or living) for the subject of your assignment and address a total of two statements below regarding the leader you have chosen.

·         Identify how the leader defines the characteristics of leadership.

·         Explain what the leader described as the most important element to their success.

·         Identify what leaders influenced the selected leader.

Guided Response: Review several of your peers’ posts and identify the leadership style with which you can relate. Respond to at least two of your peers and provide recommendations to extend their thinking. Challenge your peers by asking a question that may cause them to reevaluate their choice of leadership style. Respond to two of your peers’ posts by the end of Day 7.
