Humanities 65 Week 3 Discussion 2 | chatbot las positas community college
Overview
Have you ever asked yourself if your car is aesthetically
pleasing to you or not? Have you ever considered whether your bedroom is
aesthetically pleasing to you--do you find it beautiful or not? Aesthetics is
really to do with what appeals to you as beautiful to your senses in regard to
the visual, textural, sensually, in sound, in depth of feeling. Interior
design in homes is important from an aesthetic perspective because you have to
spend a great deal of time in your home. A classroom is not conducive to
learning if it is not aesthetically pleasing--nor is someone's work place or
office. We need aesthetically pleasing spaces in which to reside--to
enhance our lives. Each of us has a preference in regard to what music
appeals to us--or what types of art appeal to us.
Thus
to ask what is important to you aesthetically is a very important
question--because it reflects your life choices and what is meaningful to
you. And, aesthetics does not have to do with money--people can spend
millions of dollars on a home but if the home is not aesthetically pleasing it
does not matter, and it will not feel right. Someone can have a very
small home with very few things in it--but if the things and the layout is
aesthetically pleasing and beautiful--that is what really matters.
This is an essential
existential question: what pleases you aesthetically? Color, sound,
texture, the visual experience of it--it is all incredibly important for a
fulfilled and joyous life. Thus, aesthetics is what makes us feel and
respond to a place, a painting, a sound, a movie, a text, a poem! And, it is
often a sublime feeling--so sensual that we feel entranced and transcendent for
a moment. It is the most important question--and it is what makes Humanities so
important. So think carefully about what things in your life please you
aesthetically!
