Week
1: Descriptive Analysis Essay Topic Selection
For your first essay, you'll be writing a
descriptive analysis. Please view our Week 2 Descriptive Analysis Essay course resource page, which includes my video, a sample essay, and
additional resources to ensure your success.
Option 1 - Describe a project or complication that you have
experienced in the workplace and what was learned from it.
The topic for this essay is inspired by the sample essay “Case
Narrative” in Chapter 5 of your eBook.
Option 2 - Describe a turning point when your a hero or
mentor inspired you to overcome a challenge in your life.
Here is a sample,
which you can use as a model for your own essay: Week 2 Sample Descriptive

Looking ahead, we will be sharing and drafting
our Descriptive Essay in our Week 2 Team Writing Workshops - so please choose a
topic that you would like to share with others. :)
1.
Choose a topic that
you have direct personal experience with: a person you know, a place you've
visited many times, or an event you have attended. Write about what you know.
(No research required.)
2.
In your initial post,
tell us about your topic choice. It's okay if it is tentative at this point, or
if you have more than one idea. Tell us who or what your topic is, why you've
chosen it, and what you want your readers to learn from your essay.
3.
Next, read the posts
of your fellow students, and provide helpful, detailed, constructive, and
thoughtful feedback. Scroll down through the posts and reply to students who
have the least number of replies first.
As always, thank you in advance for sharing all your thoughtful responses and for showing respect for viewpoints - even if we don't agree. Our classroom is a safe space for exploring challenging ideas and questions. So extremely grateful in advance for all your netiquette, civil discourse, and bias-free language (Links to an external site.).
Reminder: Be sure to post in this discussion area
on 3 different days - coming in by Wednesday, to earn an A for the week.
