ABOUT THIS ACTIVITY

In this activity, you’ll have an opportunity to prepare an elevator pitch for a company of interest. If you haven’t already, make sure you use the discussion forum to post a draft of your elevator pitch and provide feedback to others (see Elevator Pitch Preparation).

YOUR TASK

Identify and Research the Company and Position

1.      Identify one (1) company that you want to learn more about.

2.      Research the company.

3.      Visit the company’s Careers page on its website.

4.      Select one job that you would want to apply for at that company.

Prepare Your Elevator Pitch

1.      Create a draft of the elevator pitch that you would deliver to a company executive (at the company you selected) in preparation for recording your elevator pitch on the Big Interview platform. Keep in mind that 150 words equal 1 minute; so your elevator pitch will likely be 75–150 words in written form.

Register with Big Interview and Record Your Elevator Pitch

1.      Once you have prepared your elevator pitch and rehearsed it, please go to Tulane University Freeman School of Business: Big Interview (Links to an external site.). Your laptop or desktop must have a camera for this recording.

2.      Click the green “Register” button in the upper-right corner.

3.      Complete the simple registration form.

4.      Enter the following registration code: 0699

5.      You will need to enter an eight-character password (numerical and upper/lower case)

6.      Once registered, use the “Assignments” menu inside Big Interview.

7.      Use the following assignment code: 991647

8.      Follow the instructions on the screen to record and submit your video. You will receive a notification from Big Interview when you have completed the assignment.

9.      Remember your video should only be 30–60 seconds in length.

SCORING GUIDE

You will receive full credit for addressing all the required components above AND attaching a screenshot of the completed interview to this assignment. You do not need to submit your prerecorded interview in Canvas. You are only submitting in Big Interview. The screenshot must include your name and the date you completed the exercise (see example below). Your instructor will provide feedback on this assignment in the Big Interview platform. You can also get feedback from your Career Consultant at a scheduled meeting.
