Outcome 8 and Peer Review
Actively participate in the module discussions to reflect on
your own professional/learning experience pertaining to the designated program
outcomes and to assist others to do so. We hold discussions in the course for several
reasons: (1) to develop community in the course as learning together and, (2)
to share ideas and information in an effort to help one another (3) sharing
ideas for evidence is a great way to helps us all grow, and finally, (4) by
reflecting on our past, we will see that we have done so much and learned so
much in every portion of the program that it frequently inspires us to continue
in our quest of lifelong learning. The Discussion in this module will be
helpful to you in reflecting on your past as well as sharing ideas with others.
Step 1: Post your Draft Learning Statements
Your Initial Discussion Post includes providing three learning
statements for Program Outcome 8.
Program Outcome 8: Apply technological and management concepts
in an integrated manner using both a local and global perspective.
Review the information provide in the ITA Portfolio Guide
regarding how to write learning statements. Develop three learning statements
and post to the discussion forum to receive peer review.
You will not provide your evidence in the discussion forum. Do
not attach a Word Document in the discussion area, you will copy and paste your
content in the discussion area.
Completion of the activity will help you satisfy the following
module outcomes:

MO#1: Identify
technological and management problems from a real-life scenario, and the
concepts that were applied to solve those problems. (PO#8)

MO#2: Explain the role
technology plays in managing your concentration from local and global
perspectives. (PO#8)

MO#3: Analyze the
impact of technological and management concepts. (PO#8)
This module’s discussion focuses on Program Outcome 8. Your
discussion grade will be based on the quality of your postings. We are not
looking for postings of excessive quantity with little substance, but rather
postings that indicate to the instructor and other learners that you are
thinking about the outcome Discussion question posting or other learner’s
postings, and providing or offering input that adds value to the Discussion and
to the Course for other learners! These Discussions serve as a means to help
you reflect and to assist others in the course to gain information and reflect
on areas they may not be thinking about.
Step 2: Perform Peer Review on your Fellow
Students’ Learning Statements
Review the ITA Portfolio Guide, focus on ten key components
listed in the How to Write Learning Statements section. These components are
meant to help you develop learning statements that meet the expectations and
requirements.
1. Discuss the facts of the experience.
2. Discuss how you relate your practices,
expertise, and experiences to the program outcome.
3. Discuss how you demonstrated your ability to
link the coursework to the learning statement.
4. Discuss your strengths and weaknesses of the
event or experience.
5. Discuss the quality of the experience and give
insight and reason for judgment/decision making.
6. Discuss your applicability to your experience
and expertise.
7. Identify opportunities for future development
and improvement.
8. How do you identify the strengths and
weaknesses of the event or experience?
9. What was the outcome? How was the outcome
measured?
10. What is the evidence to support your
statement?
You will perform a peer review, critically
assessing how your fellow students have addressed 3 of the 10 key components.
If a student has already performed peer review on the learning statements, do
not use the same key components. Select three different key components to
evaluate. Perform peer reviews following the criteria in the grading rubric. Be
sure to address quality if writing including grammar and punctuation when
providing feedback.
Consult the Discussion Posting Guide for information about writing your discussion
posts. Be sure to check your work and correct any spelling or grammatical
errors before you post it. When you are ready to post, click on
"Reply." Then, copy/paste the text into the message field, and click
"Post Reply."
Evaluation
This discussion will be graded using the
discussion board rubric. Please review this rubric, located on the Rubrics
page within the Start
Here module of the course, prior to beginning your work to ensure your
participation meets the criteria in place for this discussion. All discussions
combined are worth 20% of your final course grade.
