COMM 270 Week 5 Assignment | Mercer University

COMM 270 Week 5 Assignment | Mercer University

This is JUST your outline. You will not be married to this topic. You may change your mind after submitting this outline and you may use different references. The references are due now to show that you have already begun research and to help develop your outline. You must have a MINIMUM of four (4) sources. Here is a sample outline with explanations for you. Comm 270 Sample Business Proposal.docx Download Comm 270 Sample Business Proposal.docx

Persuasive Appeal -- Your final will be a video presentation; however, prepare just your outline and reference page for this assignment.  Again, the video is not due now--just your outline and references are due. When your final is due, your recorded presentation where you verbally cite all of your references will be uploaded to YouTube (DO NOT SET TO PRIVATE) or you may upload a .mov file if you do not want to use YouTube.

Goals

• To have the student design a business proposal (persuasive speech) related to a need they see in their current corporation (if not working, this can be a past position or a more general proposal that all companies should consider doing).

• To have the students become familiar with the motivated sequence format-this does not need to be used in the exact order as presented in the book as long as each sequence is represented.

• To have the students give their proposal presentation using ethos, logos and pathos.

Time required

Each student is given five (5) to seven (7) minutes for the speech.

Procedure

1. Review/research Monroe's motivated sequence format.

2. Research persuasive ideas and see how they would fit into the motivated sequence.

3. Write a full sentence outline format with in text citations and a references page with a minimum of four credible sources in APA format. Credible sources are books, book chapters, and Academic peer-reviewed journal articles only. You may use other sources like websites and .org, .net, .com sources, but they do not count toward your four sources required.

4. Practice speeches for presentation next week and then upload to YouTube or send me a .mov file of your presentation.

***Practice timing as going over or under the required time will be a deduction on your grade.
