INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATE(S)
Under examination conditions the duration of the examination was 3 hours and, typically, answers were handwritten. Due to the exceptional circumstances you can complete the paper over a longer period and are required to submit your examination script as a Microsoft Word Document. We would advise that, typically, answers should be on A4 papers and using Arial font size 12 is appropriate.
Please ensure that the work undertaken is your own work and it does not breach the Regulations Relating to Academic Misconduct (Taught Provision) https://www.tees.ac.uk/docs/index.cfm?folder=Student%20Regulations
Figures and tables used as part of your answers should be self-generated. Figures and tables can be generated in other programmes such as Microsoft Excel or PowerPoint but should be imported into your Examination script (Microsoft Word Document) prior to submission.
You are permitted to use calculators or software such as Microsoft Excel to perform calculations.
Your Examination Script should be submitted no later than the specified time
Submission of your completed Examination Script should occur via the Assessment link provided in the module Blackboard site.

This paper consists of four questions. Students should answer four questions in total.
All questions carry equal marks (25 Marks). Part marks for sections of questions are shown in brackets.
Students can draw diagrams to demonstrate an understanding and support their answers. Diagrams should be clearly labelled and referred to in the text.
Question 1:
An audit report on the sustainable management practices of a cement manufacturing company operating in the industrial city of Lagos revealed a weak mechanism for sustainability. As a result, the company is facing a series of lawsuits from Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and some concerned from Nigerian Government for environmental pollution. Expert believe, if this is not checked, the company might be rendered unsafe in the long run.
(a) Account for any four current environmental and sustainability issues arising out of the company’s operations:
(b) Discuss in brief the process life cycle assessment (LCA) approach to evaluating the Green House Gas (GHG) emissions associated with oil and gas industry. Your LCA should include life cycle, from raw materials to disposal, including all material, energy and waste flows.

(a) What are the FIVE main health hazards encountered in the oil and gas industry? Explain your answer and provide at least one example for each group
(b) Workers
of a new chemical processing plant are required to work with chemicals while
operating equipment at elevated pressure and temperature conditions. The plant
operates at large scale with several units such as production, services
(cleaning and maintenance), sales, procurement, health and safety. It runs three
eight-hour shifts, 24 hours a day, seven days per week for 365 days per year.
It is located in a hot and humid environment in a coastal region. If you were
performing the COSHH assessment, which hazards (from the ones listed in part
