Discussion Board #3: CBD

First, read the assigned article. You can click  (Links to an external site.)here to see the article appear in a new window. This article was assigned last week when we learned about psychoactive drugs.

Second, after reading the assigned article, type a one-paragraph summary of your reaction to it. Do you agree with it or disagree with it? Why do you agree or disagree? In your summary provide one in-text APA Style Citation to the assigned article. For this assignment direct quotes are not allowed. The article should be paraphrased rather than directly quoted.

Third, search the internet for an article that is relevant to your reaction to the assigned article. For example, maybe you agreed with the assigned article that CBD seems like a lot of hype with little evidence to back it up. You could search the internet for a real scientific study about its effectiveness. Or, if you completely disagreed with the article, you could search for an article that supports you in your disagreement. Once you’ve found an article that you like, type a one-paragraph summary of the article and explain how it relates to your reaction to the assigned article. In this paragraph provide a URL link to the article you chose in parentheses. This will allow the instructor and other students to access your article and read it. Any post that does not include a link to the article you found will receive a zero score because the URL will serve as your citation of the article you found. Finally, put your two paragraphs into a post for this week’s Discussion Board.

PLEASE NOTE: both paragraphs must be free of plagiarism. The paragraphs cannot contain sentences or phrases taken directly from the articles. In other words, direct quotes are not permitted for this assignment. This is an opportunity to learn how to paraphrase. Posts that contain plagiarism or direct quotes will receive a zero. 

Posts will be graded based on (1) the quality of the summaries (do I understand what the article was about based on your summary?), (2) the relevance of the article you found, and (3) proper citation of both articles. Again, any post that does not include a link to the article you found will receive a zero score, and any post that contains sentences or phrases taken directly from the article (e.g. direct quotes) or plagiarism will receive a zero score. Finally, there is no requirement to include a list of references at the end of your post.

Getting the URL: place your curse on the address line and click once. That should make the full address appear and highlight it in blue, as you see below. Then click “copy”, then paste the address URL into your paragraph.
