Purpose
of Assignment
This assignment helps studentsunderstand the role of
demand forecasting in operations management and how it is central to designing
internal and external processes to accommodate shifting demand patterns.To be
agile in demand responsiveness, the business may need to adjust capacity
planning and facility layouts. Further, the location of the facility has a direct
bearing on logistics and resource planning. The case study of a cruise line for
Week 3involves creating a demand forecast, and planning the resources and
embarkation process flows to accommodate the demand. Week 3provides linkage
between theory and practical application of best practices of operations
management within the context of a virtual cruise line company.
