Recruitment and Retention Program
Influences
The second content area includes a set of traditional responsibilities
associated with the field of human resources. This area is heavily tested in
the PHR but also has a very strong presence in the aPHR and SPHR. Workforce
planning, succession plans, and retention programs are key to the success of
all organizations in all sectors of the economy.
For this discussion,
select one of the following questions and discuss how it contributes
to organizational success through effectively recruiting and selecting candidates
from external sources and promoting internal employees:

How do labor market trends influence an organization's capability to
respond to its specific workforce requirements?

What type of challenges do HRM professionals face when accessing skill
sets of both internal and external labor markets? What actions can they take to
facilitate skills assessments? Consider both in-house and externally sourced
methods, products, and services.

Recruiting processes have changed, and today the scope of recruiting
sources is broader and more powerful than ever before. Select one of the
following sources and discuss how it can be used to attract talented applicants
to the organization:
o Employee referrals.
o Diversity groups,
associations, fraternities, or sororities.
o College and career
school referral services.
o Social media.
o LinkedIn.
o Indeed and other
job sourcing sites.
