HRM 5112 Week 3 Discussion 1

How Do Laws Guide Employment Activities?

The second content area, Workforce Planning and Employment, includes a set of traditional responsibilities associated with the field of human resources. This area is heavily tested in the PHR exam and has a very strong presence in the SPHR. Today, employment planning is more complex than simply sourcing positions from the available local, distant, or virtual workforce. It requires a comprehensive knowledge of the employee life cycle. This discussion presents the execution of workforce planning and employment within germane federal laws and appropriate regulatory guidance. This is a sensitive area for all sectors of employment, as violation of associated tenets can lead to either private litigation or a federal section or suit.

Select and research one of the following compliance-based federal regulations, and discuss its role in, and contribution to, employment activities:

·         Title Vll of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

·         Amendments to Title Vll.

·         Age Discrimination Act of 1967.

·         EEO Act 1972.

·         Pregnancy Discrimination Act 1978.

·         Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.

Use proper APA style and formatting when appropriate.

Response Guidelines

Read the posts of your peers and respond to two other learners by providing comments and questions that encourage critical thinking and insight on one of these federal employment-related regulations. Your responses should extend the discussions on how HRM activities are influenced and stimulate other learners to clarify, strengthen, and extend their dialogues.
