Regression
The
focus this week is on linear regression. Assuming a relation between two
variables, linear regression allows us to make predictions. Think back to your
forum post from last week. Did you see a linear pattern in the scatter plot?
What was the r value for the correlation? If you found a moderate to strong
linear relation between the variables, describe how you could use a regression
line to make predictions. Given your data sample, what might you be able to
predict? If you did not find a moderate to strong linear relation last week,
what does that tell you about the data? Review the regression cautions in
section 2.6 of the text. How would you consider these cautions in light of your
data set?
