Sample Data Set

Find and post a small data set (20 - 30 values) with an Identifier (like Subject Number), at least 2 categorical variables and at least 2 continuous variables. Describe what the data represent and why you chose this data set. Following the ideas presented in chapter 1 of the text, describe the types of variables, the type of sample, possible lurking variables, and any association or causation. A sample data set with 2 categorical variables is attached.

Keep in mind that the course project requires a larger data set of 200-250 data points. In the forums you will be working with a smaller data set and using it to practice the statistical techniques that are covered in the course. It is a good idea to identify a large data set early in the course and use it to perform the techniques as you complete each forum.

Instructions: Your initial post should be at least 250 words. Please respond to at least 1 other student. Responses should be a minimum of 100 words and include direct questions.

Scoring: Your forum posts will be evaluated according to the following scale:

0 = no, late, or inadequate posting

60 = accurate posting BUT no peer comments

80 = accurate posting AND meaningful peer comments

100 = accurate posting with meaningful comments AND exceptional insight into the issue
