RESPOND TO STUDENT POST PICTURE ATTACHED BELOW
The Laon Cathedral that is located in Laon, France is the most appealing religious structure to me from this chapter. The present Laon Cathedral dates from the 12th and early 13th centuries. Construction began in 1160 and the original burned down and the new cathedral was structurally completed in 1230.  The architectural style is an example of the Gothic style that originated in Northern France.    I find this cathedral impressive by one of its interior features which is the centre that includes the stained glass western rose window which dates to 1210.  Also, another notable interior feature is the the Serbian icon of the Holy Face. The outside architectural features that are extraordinary are the seven towers flanking the facades, five of which are complete to the height of the base of the spires and the other two towers that are at each end of the transept.

      the structure from chapter 16 that I find most appealing is the Church of San Vitale in Ravenna, Italy. I like the Byzantine art and the spiritual, otherworldly style that it is. I am especially impressed by the flower-like structure of the eight massive piers with the semi circular niches between that extend into to ambulatory. I just find the church's general structure appealing. It's octagonal shape gives it a sense of uniqueness.
