ETech
Content 1: Describe
your tech’s functionality, |
Tech: VR Vendor: Doghead Simulations (DS) Product: Rumii Your
Tech and Vendor/Product align correctly. +5pts. Functional
features: You
recall “functional features” from both IT Matters, and from the E-Tech
graphic. That’s what we’re talking about. Group 1, What
is the function of your Tech? What does it do? Describe in one sentence
if possible, two max. You missed this. The closest sentence
about function I found was when you described your product as “an
application” that is used to “create a VR platform.” I’m not sure how
applications create platforms. But that’s what I’m left to understand
after reading your paper. -5 pts. Quality
features: Nice
list: Rumii feature options include a 3D model loader, whiteboard, file
sharing, screen sharing, customizable avatars, and virtual meeting rooms.”
But, how else would you analyze this product? Are there other
quality features, such as: resolution? Latency? Dizziness
resistance? This sounds like a list from the vendor, not a list you
might have derived from a VR paper that you could then apply as a framework
to analyze your vendor. That’s OK for MS2 (you did well actually).
Going forward though, determine what QFs are important, and then score
your product on them. For MS6 Week 10, be prepared to compare your
product and the leading competitors against those QFs. +5pts. Business
Value: We
cover this in the Business Activity/Application discussion for this
assignment. Answer this more fully in your business case, MS5 when you
can talk project costs. How
does the tech work? Good
discussion on how Rumii could be used. Also, good initial set of
vendor-listed QFs. But how does this tech actually work? Remember
the fundamentals: Hardware, software, connectivity, data. You could
further strengthen this section by describing what VR is and answering, “how
does Rumii’s VR work?”. -5pts |

Company
Description |
General
description: Most
folks know Nike, so this is less important in general for your team.
But please show some specifics. For example, what does “large” mean?
And how is it organized? You
could further strengthen this section by identifying any of the firm’s
strategic objectives that relate to your proposed E-Tech use. [Refer to
our E-Tech diagram] Also, you would gain by improving the description
by providing some measures of the size and geography Competitive
analysis (e.g. SWOT, Porter, …): This would be a nice graphic – first pass.

Proposed
E Tech Use |
Business
Activity/Application: As you recall, we discussed this in IT
Matters, but classmates don’t make it part of IT Matters till round 2.
We also discussed this in the “Big Three.” Look for the circle! You
identified “The business department at Nike that would most benefit from this
technology is the Digital Design Transformation department.” That’s
great. Recommend you focus on them for your business case, and as
icing, mention that once your product is proven by this organization, then it
could be spread across other areas in Nike. But keep your business case
easy and clean by focusing just on this department. BTW, what does this
department do? That’s the essence of the business activity you need to
answer. |

Project Research
Plan |
Nice
that you covered how you were going to research Nike and what key questions
you would ask of them. You
might have benefited from applying a framework to organize your list of
questions. Perhaps look at the Big 3 handout. Or, look at the
boxes of the E-Tech diagram to see what you need to know to answer each
box. You’ll
benefit from such an alignment! For
example, if you had used such a framework you might have identified the need
to research the vendor as well as your client. Note:
the wall posting about the “Big Three” provided a slide for each of the Big
Three that could help inform your research plan. If you hadn’t reviewed
that handout for MS2, I encourage you to do that prior to your MS 3 video
(hint). Final
thought -- What will your final measure/metric(s) be that allows your client
to compare your project to other projects -- and how will you gather the data
for it? Group
1, you are on track for a typical group for your MS 2 research plan.
Once again, the goal is for your first thought, before actually
answering a question, to consider what course material or other external
references could best help you frame your response and organize your
arguments. Being super bright and hardworking are the ante for success
in business – i.e. Necessary, but not sufficient. |

Writing

Word
count (200/question, 4 questions): Fine Grammar
& Spelling:
Please proof prior to submitting. For example, “The
emerging technology that we have decided to move forward with is Rumii, an
application by Doghead Simulations to create a Virtual Reality (VR) platform
that increase [increases?] employee engagement and productivity…” -1pt Thesis
sentence and organization: Keep working this. Annotated
Bibliography & Citations. Nice first list. My
thoughts on reviewing your list is:
Clarity
& Focus:
Continue to work on this. For example, the reader has to work very hard
to parse this sentence: “The emerging technology that we have
decided to move forward with is Rumii, an application by Doghead
Simulations to create a Virtual Reality (VR) platform that increase employee
engagement and productivity through its features, multi-platforms, and
integrations. |

Going
forward, think about what the “function” of your tech is (distill it to a
short sentence). Then focus on the “quality features” of your tech and
vendor. What 1-5 things set your tech apart from other techs that can
do the job, including the status quo. And, are there some quality
features that Rumii does not do so well? If so, how will that affect
your proposal. And, are any of these QFs related to the vendor, or
just to the product (e.g. service plan, integration services, financing,
etc). Next,
recap Nike’s business application(s) and describe how your tech features affect
those that business application(s). That’s the second part of what
you’ll include in MS 3, your video. The first part of MS 3 will be how
your tech actually works (and how your Vendor adds value in terms of their
product and their services) For MS 4, you’ll go further and show how your
recommendation helps your company --, identifying what specific benefits they
would accrue from your recommendation. You provided some of this in
your MS 2 paper – assuming your business application actually accrues those
benefits. In MS 5, you’ll need to take this a step further and link
your benefits to the two financial ultimate outcomes. This will be
hard, but knowing your benefits and perhaps even starting to quantify them in
MS4 will be a big help for you in MS 5 Group
1, I suspect your toughest challenges will be to nail your business
application and then identify your value chain (benefits to Ultimate
Outcomes), as you are a bit behind on clarifying your exact business
application. On the
other hand, if you succeed in overcoming these two challenges, you have a
wonderful candidate for the winning presentation at Week 10! VR and
athleisure are very hot topics currently. |
