ITEC 616 Week 1 Assignment Help | Kogod School Of Business American University
Content 1: Team Charter. |
Team Charter Framework (what did you use?): I like
that you categorized the elements of your team charter so that it was well
organized. Good insight for each. I particularly like that you
set specific days you will meet each week, establishing a rhythm. You could further improve your charter by linking the Team Purpose to
source – for example the Syllabus or my first class or a wall posting.
Leverage course work! Also, you would benefit from employing a
framework for your charter. How did you determine the boxes you used?
How do you know whether you missed a box? The reference you
provided (Mathieu) does not provide a framework. (-2pts) Rather,
Mathieu and Rapp identified a correlation between first, success and a
group’s initial efforts to develop a strategy, and then second, between a
charter and the strategy. Ergo, they said a charter and success were
highly correlated. That’s why we wanted you to develop a charter – so
you were more likely to be successful on your ETech project! Mathieu
and Rapp also noted that a good charter had “consistency and completeness”
(pg 95). How do you know whether you were complete if you do not have a
framework to craft the shell/outline of your charter? So, overall, you did a good job leveraging four smart folks.
But, you did not show that you benefited from this class – and we’re
already 10% complete! Please, start using coursework and external
research to lift yourselves above the competition and arm yourselves for your
future success. Roles & Responsibilities (who does what): Great that you
listed “Roles” in your title of your third box. But the content of the
box seemed to be more about “Expectations”. I did not see any mention
of roles of team members. However, in your next box about
communications and team meeting you did identify how you would break out
roles for each assignment and that on a rotating basis, someone would submit.
BTW, I would be curious to learn why your group felt rotating that role
was the best team approach. Most groups picked one person to always
submit so they would reduce the possibility of confusion leading to a
submission error. Not a critique, just a curious professor.
Perhaps when we have our first office meeting you can share progress on
that with me. Team Operations (agenda & rhythm): Nice. Commitment & conflict resolution (how?): Nice. Team member assessment (your norms for MS6c): Interesting
that your group did not address a group norm for the self assessment.
It’s a tool you all have to encourage positive group behavior. Overall, satisfactory charter. Your group is off to a solid
start. |

Content 2:Technology Candidates. |
Idea 1: Hyperloop for Fedex to use for package transport
Interesting tech. Remember that to meet the criteria for an
ETech project, the tech must be “Primarily about collecting,
computing, analyzing, transmitting, and/or displaying data (bits, zeros and
ones).” You will need to show this in your tech description. My other concern would be that you check that this will be profitable
– if FedEx builds hyperloops across the USA (across the world?) will the
shipping benefits exceed the construction and operations cost? Would
alternative techs like autonomous drones achieve the same at lower costs?
You will need to make an estimate at this so you don’t find out
half-way through that the project would lose money for FedEx. Idea 2: 3D Printing for Habitat for Humanity housing construction
For this project, please ensure that you feel this tech would be
culturally acceptable by H2H volunteers – or that your change management
activities would retain free volunteers who’s duties would change because the
construction method will be different. Not a show stopper, but want you
to go into this with your eyes open. This idea of yours has
possibilities. Idea 3: VR for Nike to host distributed virtual meetings.
I’m a remote worker and would like this for meetings. The
challenge here will be to determine your business case. How will you
show that this tech increases Nike’s revenue or lowers its operating costs?
I think you can work this, but go into this knowing you’ll need to
think through the benefits and how they translate to Nike’s bottom line. |

Writing Style:Properly list information sources: citations |
OK. Grammar and spelling fine. For your annotated bibliography: Please include an annotation
(sentence or two) about what the source says. For example, "This
article describes how …”,Ensure the annotation conveys why you included the
reference. (it should be more than just background info). |

Overall Grade |
Team 1, you've crafted an excellent foundation for your project team.
Consider my suggested tweaks (above). I look forward to observing
your group dynamics over this semester. You also identified some excellent emerging technology candidates.
It’s great that you thought about what company might use each and for
what purpose (biz app). For MS2, you’ll need my OK prior to crafting
your submission. I saw your note about #1 (Hyperloop) being your top
choice. Please review my comments about #1 (and #2 & #3).
Then shoot me an email with your conclusions. Note, you’re not
constrained to 1, 2 or 3 either – if you identify another big three you like
better, that’s fair game too. Just review my comments overall and the
criteria from my slide Week 1. Once you nail the firm and the business activity/application – and
combine it with your tech (and vendor/product), you will be positioned to ace
this project and the final presentation. I’m excited for you! |
