Measuring the Value of HR

An overriding idea in this course is that the impact of HR on the value of an organization is difficult to measure. Though the economic value of a new machine can be quite accurately calculated, the value of a new 2-day training program can be much more challenging to determine. Consider, for example, time away from regular organizational roles. Some of the employees could be supervisors and others are expertly trained and educated professionals. All of these employees receive high levels of compensation and are in high demand within an organization because there are only a few in these roles with a particular skill set that supports multiple groups with the company.

From your experiences, respond to the following:

·         Do you agree or disagree with the concept that the value of HR is difficult to measure?

·         Why do you feel this way?
