Dyadic Encounter: Developing an Ongoing Relationship

To assess your ability to:

·         Identify the characteristics of social relationships in the workplace.

·         Define self-disclosure.

·         Identify alternatives to self-disclosure.

·         Identify elements of interpersonal deception.

·         Identify the elements in the listening process.

·         Identify common barriers to effective listening.

1.      Work through the questionnaire with a person with whom you have a significant personal relationship.

2.      Select three to four significant components that you learned about yourself, the assignment partner, the relationship that you share or the concept of interactive listening.

3.      Create a four to five page paper that provides an analysis of the encounter.

Note: Be sure to incorporate concepts from the text and class discussions.

·         Submit your paper using the Submit tool.

·         In addition to your four to five page paper, create a 2-3 paragraph summary of your experience. Post this summary to the Discuss tool topic, "Dyadic Encounter".

·         Content - relevance, accuracy, and depth: 35 points

·         Effectiveness - writing style, appropriateness to purpose and audience, tone, flow/readability, clarity, organization, progression: 25 points
