Discussion: Professionalism

An important part of being professional in the workplace is being able to discern between ethical and unethical behaviors and appreciating how guidelines can help prevent unethical actions and decisions.

In this Discussion, consider attributes of professionalism such as honesty, integrity, accountability, and responsibility.

Note: For Discussions in the modules of this program, you and your colleagues can make multiple posts.

To prepare:

For this Discussion, you consider and respond to the two following topics on professionalism:

·         Topic A: Review this module’s Learning Resources, including the video on professionalism in the workplace. Provide examples from within the agency of your practicum that parallel at least three of the positive or negative examples you observe in the video. Do not identify specific people from your agency.

·         Topic B: Reflect on at least two personal experiences you have had with respect to professionalism and questionable behavior in the workplace. Answer the following questions:

o    What was the questionable behavior?

o    What were the repercussions of the behavior?

o    What guidelines or protocols could be provided to avoid or mitigate this questionable behavior?
