Discussion: Personal Safety and Risk

Reducing the risks of safety issues requires preparation and a plan that is clearly communicated. When everyone involved with an organization understands crisis management plans, that preparation and clear communication can help keep people safe as well as create a more organized response to crises.

For this Discussion, you consider the relevant characteristics of the community you serve or the agency of your practicum itself and assess potential risks.

To prepare:

·         Review this module’s Learning Resources.

·         Consider safety risks you may face at your agency’s site.

·         If your agency has a formal plan to address personal risk and safety, respond to Option A. If your agency does not have a formal plan, respond to Option B.

By Day 3 of Week 1

Respond to one of the following options:

·         Option A: If your agency has a formal plan to address personal risk and safety, select one of this module’s Learning Resources, identify the resource you selected, and compare and contrast this resource with the components from your agency’s plan.

·         Option B: If your agency does not have a formal plan, suggest at least three components from one of the module’s required Learning Resources that your agency’s leadership should consider in order to formulate a plan. Identify the resource you selected and explain why the components of this resource are important for your agency.
